The Young Powerlifters Club includes weekly gym sessions for 13-17 year old girls who are looking to explore powerlifting, learn the 3 lifts – squat, bench press and deadlift, and practice in line with British Powerlifting rules!

The aim of powerlifting is to lift as much as you can in the 3 lifts and go on to compete if that is an interest. Competing is not a requirement for powerlifting, it can be something you choose to do just for fun and to see what you’re cable of.

Sessions will run every Friday from 7-8pm at JC Strength Academy. Sessions will follow a structured, coached approach to safely teach the powerlifting exercises while including other strength training exercises. As this is a fully coached session, the exercises and weights will be adjusted to fit each of the girls abilities.

Each week we will focus on a different skill set that will allow the girls to follow a competitive route if they choose to. There will be opportunities for the girls to experience mock competitions when they are 14 years old or over, as this is the minimum age to compete set by British Powerlifting.
